About Shell

Celebrating the joy of color and creation, Michelle “Shell” Rummel's watercolors embody the fluidity of the feminine form in nature, the wind and the natural elements, the faces and the freedom of the trees and the varying landscape.

The soothing, mood-altering palettes of these paintings are sustained by layers of often unanticipated color combinations, resulting in richer and deeper contrasts and a refreshing contemporary style that bridges the traditional concepts of abstract and representational art. Enhanced by subtle detail and texture, often inspired and accompanied by original poetic verse, these vignettes delicately draw the viewer into Shell’s sensuous and light-manipulated reality.

Shell is an award winning fine artist and designer and owner of Shell Artistree LLC, which proudly offers exceptionally designed products and collections for Bridal and Mitzvah markets. Well known for her clean style, an artist's eye for color, texture and form, and a gift for poetic wordplay, Shell enjoys a loyal following for her award-winning fine art which can often be found exhibited at juried shows, Galleries and personal and corporate art collections around the world.

In her own words...

I see the world differently than most. I'm most at peace when I am mixing colors, damp brush in hand, music playing Metheny and the sun shining white light over my shoulder onto my watercolor paper. I don't get to paint as much as my soul would like, but when I do, it's magic.
My art studio is my haven and is always filled with music, artistic inspiration and a revolving door of visiting guests. It is the place where I breathe free and am at my best.  I wear jeans everyday and often go barefoot. I love to answer the phones and talk to my clients. I always ask what design is their favorite...their choice tells me a lot about them. We become connected simply because my art, every stroke, contains so much of me.
Running Shell Artistree comes easy to me. A group of creative, innovative, professional, smart, interesting and lovely women make up my team. We laugh an awful lot, but we also all work hard, creating and building this company, day by day, to fulfill my vision and dream. A little piece of each of us ends up in every product we offer to our clients.
I have found my path. I am fulfilled. I somehow feel as if I am doing exactly what I was destined to do.
